Yes, it appears to be down for everyone based on the number of e-
mails coming through to the webmasters. It is not an individual
thing, nobody has been denied access as the message would seem to
indicate.

Will have to wait for Choi to check in. Thanks for your patience!

The database has been temporarily disabled by out hosting service because of
a denial of service attach on letterboxing.org. The source of the attack has
been banned and the database should be back up shortly.

It's sad that someone would attack a website that provides a free service to
the public.

LbNA was actually the target of the DoS attack?! And not one of the
other websites that's hosted on the same server?

That's pretty cruddy of the hosting service to essentially shut down
your website because they couldn't prevent a DoS attack that you have
no control over. But why the database? Seems like they should have
shut down your web server rathern than the database which is protected
behind the web server.

That really ticks me off, though. It just seems wrong to me that
they'd shut down your database for something that's their fault for
allowing to happen in the first place. Just plain wrong....

There are a lot of sad, pathetic people out there, who make themselves feel
better by trying to hurt others. On the bright side, we would not know what
a great bunch of people letterboxers are if we didn't have something to
compare ourselves with

I used DoS in a loose sense. The attack was against the LbNA search scripts
rather than a more sophisticated DoS attack. The result was heavy load our
database.
